FAO recognizes IYA’s initiative

IITA Youth in Agribusiness program was recognized by the Food and Agriculture Organization as one of the twenty innovations in FAO’s first symposium for family members in Rome between 21st and 23rd November and was requested to display at the fair. The success stories displayed were centred around four key challenges to which agricultural innovation has been used: climate change; sustainable natural resource management; food insecurity, hunger and malnutrition; and job creation, with a focus on youth. All in all, the Fair provided a unique space to explore key questions and issues of agricultural innovation around the world.  IYA was recognized for its incubation program for young people and resuscitating abandoned agricultural facilities to train youths and establish pilot agribusiness enterprises.
